The Blood & Moone Files – Episode 10: Hunter’s Moon (Final Edit) Written by Justin Evans | Final Showrunner Edit DOG BOY DAN Sometimes you find a book in the dark... and sometimes that book finds you. That’s how it went with our boy Chandler. Found something that shoulda stayed buried. And now? Well... now the ground's starting to stir. By the looks of things, it seems the Blood and Moone boys are about to step straight into a shitstorm, whipped up by none other than Sheriff Cooke himself. There’s a full moon on the rise, babies, and time is running out. Let’s see what they’re cookin' up in this episode titled: "Hunter’s Moon." INT. APARTMENT - MORNING The front door opens. Chandler walks in, carrying a pie box. CHANDLER BLOOD Hey, I got the pie. Took a minute—they were still baking 'em. You finish the coffee? JOHN MOONE Half a pot left. I’ll start another once we kill that one. (SFX: Coffee pours. Pie slices served.) CHANDLER BLOOD Alright, whatcha got? JOHN MOONE Two custom STI’s loaded with silver bullets—wolfsbane cores. Four extra mags. Silver nitrate grenades. Body armor. Vests. Accessories to match. CHANDLER BLOOD Dude! JOHN MOONE What? CHANDLER BLOOD Cool arsenal. But what’s the plan, man? JOHN MOONE You’re not gonna like it. CHANDLER BLOOD Figures... JOHN MOONE You worked in the Sheriff’s office. You know the shifts. Layout. Who’s where. CHANDLER BLOOD Mostly, yeah. Why? JOHN MOONE We need you to break in. CHANDLER BLOOD Hell. No. JOHN MOONE Come on, Chan. We need recon. Fast. No blunders. CHANDLER BLOOD You’re the action guy! JOHN MOONE I got the gear. But you know the building. You’re the ghost we need. CHANDLER BLOOD So I just... sneak into a government office, find proof the sheriff’s a monster? I’m just supposed to walk in and out like the wind? JOHN MOONE Easy, Jack Burton. When’s it dead over there? CHANDLER BLOOD Tuesday and Wednesday after eleven. Skeleton crew. Budget cuts. JOHN MOONE Perfect. You go tonight. Look for anything that connects Cooke to what Reggie fought. CHANDLER BLOOD Dammit... You’re starting to make sense. I hate that. JOHN MOONE Did Abe say anything about the fire? CHANDLER BLOOD Just glad no one got hurt. Didn't see who lit 'em. Think we're in the clear. JOHN MOONE Good. Want a refill? CHANDLER BLOOD Yeah. JOHN MOONE Buckle up. Long day ahead. EXT. SHERIFF’S OFFICE - NIGHT Car door opens and closes. John speaks from the window. JOHN MOONE Alright. You good? CHANDLER BLOOD I might need a new pair of underwear before it’s all said and done. JOHN MOONE You got this, brother. Signal me if it goes south. (SFX: Car drives off.) CHANDLER BLOOD No pressure. (SFX: Footsteps. Door creaks open.) INT. SHERIFF’S OFFICE - NIGHT Chandler’s footfalls echo. He reaches the Sheriff’s private office. Locked. CHANDLER BLOOD Alright. Deep breath. You've practiced. (SFX: Lockpick clicks.) CHANDLER BLOOD Boom. (SFX: Door opens. Paper shuffling.) CHANDLER BLOOD Figures. Just menus and reports. Told John this was a long shot. CAYM Try the drawer. CHANDLER BLOOD Not now. CAYM A suggestion... in good faith. CHANDLER BLOOD You can help me see in the dark. That’s fine. But zip it. CAYM (persuasive) The drawer. The calendar. His secrets. CHANDLER BLOOD Fine... (SFX: Chair creaks. Drawer opens.) CHANDLER BLOOD You gotta be kidding... a dagger? Is that Annie’s blood? (SFX: Drawer shuts. Papers scattered.) CAYM Yes. CHANDLER BLOOD You’re being helpful again. Creepy. CAYM Someone comes. (SFX: Frantic movement. Door opens and shuts.) INT. APARTMENT - NIGHT JOHN MOONE Good thing we were already rolling when the deputies showed. Close one. CHANDLER BLOOD Yeah. Caym tipped me off. JOHN MOONE Seriously? He’s a knight of Hell, Chan. CHANDLER BLOOD I know, but... he’s been different. Helpful, even. JOHN MOONE That’s how demons play you. Be smart. CHANDLER BLOOD I know. Just... I can tell when he’s messing with me. This feels different. JOHN MOONE Fine. So what’d you find? DOG BOY DAN Seems our Chandler might be warming up to his hellbound hitchhiker... or maybe Caym's just fattenin' him up for a bigger ask. Either way, the boys pieced together that dagger was ritual gear—deep magic. The marked moon confirmed it: either Cooke was the werewolf or he was helping it. They hatched a plan to draw the beast out. Then they ordered pizza. Let’s hope they survive round two. INT. APARTMENT - DAY JOHN MOONE I’m heading to the butcher. Gonna grab pork. CHANDLER BLOOD Good. Think it avoids the head. JOHN MOONE My guess too. Back soon. (SFX: Door closes. TV flicks on. Static. Infomercial begins.) TV ANNOUNCER Transform your hair with LunaLocks! (SFX: Footsteps leaving.) CHANDLER BLOOD Shit. CAYM We are tonight’s sacrifice. CHANDLER BLOOD Fantastic. CAYM I won’t return to the void. CHANDLER BLOOD And I don’t plan to die. CAYM I can grant you the strength to escape. But... CHANDLER BLOOD No deals. I’ll find another way. CAYM Doubtful. CHANDLER BLOOD Stuff it, Kermit. (SFX: Door creaks. Footsteps.) CHANDLER BLOOD John! How'd you— JOHN MOONE Quiet. Getting you out. We need the book too. (SFX: Restraints loosen.) CHANDLER BLOOD How the hell do we get out? JOHN MOONE I don’t— (SFX: Growl. Transformation begins. Bones pop.) SHERIFF COOKE Thought you might show. CHANDLER BLOOD Too many teeth. WAY too many teeth! JOHN MOONE Focus, Chan! (SFX: Gun cocked. Door crashes open.) REGGIE THE VAMPIRE I be your huckleberry, you furry sumbitch! BOTH REGGIE!? REGGIE THE VAMPIRE You shoot. I bite! (SFX: Gunfire. Growls. Fighting. Glass breaks.) REGGIE THE VAMPIRE Get back here, mutt! (SFX: Impact. Gun hits floor. Werewolf howl.) CHANDLER BLOOD Shit-shit-shit-shit-shit. He knocked Reggie out. JOHN MOONE Yeah. Bit busy! (SFX: Wall explodes.) CHANDLER BLOOD Where’d the light come from? JIM THE DJINN That’d be me. CATHERINE MOONE Thanks again. Glad you called. This one didn’t tell me anything. JOHN MOONE Sorry, Aunt Catherine. This was kinda last minute. CHANDLER BLOOD Jen? Er, uh, Jim? JIM THE DJINN Chandler. Always an honor. CHANDLER BLOOD What happened to Cooke? CATHERINE MOONE Let’s call it... an extended vacation. If he finds his way back, it won’t be soon. CHANDLER BLOOD And Reggie? REGGIE THE VAMPIRE Right here! And y’all owe me a keg this time. That mutt knocked my dick in the dirt. JIM THE DJINN Debt settled. Farewell. (SFX: SNAP.) CHANDLER BLOOD Wait. Miss Catherine? CATHERINE MOONE Yeah, sweetheart? CHANDLER BLOOD What did Jim do? CATHERINE MOONE Think of him like... batteries for my flashlight. A very strong, very hot, flashlight. JOHN MOONE You made a pact with a djinn? CATHERINE MOONE Didn’t have to. He’s free. REGGIE THE VAMPIRE That was a genie!? JOHN MOONE Basically. (SFX: Wind whoosh.) REGGIE THE VAMPIRE (in distance) Wait up, genie! Gimme them lotto numbers! CHANDLER BLOOD He bounced back fast. JOHN MOONE Perks of the breed. Let’s go home. CHANDLER BLOOD Right behind you, brother. CATHERINE MOONE It ain’t over. She’s stirring now. CHANDLER BLOOD Who is she, exactly? After all this, I deserve to know. CATHERINE MOONE Mother of all monsters... (beat) CATHERINE MOONE (softly) Lilith. DOG BOY DAN Well, well, well. The wolf may be gone, but the storm’s just starting to roll in. There’s talk of roots that drink deeper than blood and whispers of an old name best left buried. Our boys survived tonight thanks to some strange bedfellows: a vampire, a djinn, and a country witch who don’t miss. I wouldn’t bet against 'em... but if I were you, I’d keep one eye open. And speaking of bets. The boys finally cracked that old book open and Johnny boy got to syphering it’s contents, with the help of his dear aunt Cathy. Seems like the desert dwellers from half way across the world might be the first of many things being drawn to these parts. With Lilith stirring, their bet was that the monsters of the world were being called home, to momma. Until next time—if there is a next time—this is Dog Boy Dan, wishing you a night free of fright... unless you're into that sorta thing, my babies.
